Revelation

As I have been digging in the word and pressing into Yahweh I am just so amazed by Him and His promises to us. I have always shied away from the book of Revelation, because there is so much that I don’t understand there…but my husband and I decided to tackle the book in our daily reading together. What an amazing book! Don’t get me wrong, there is still much in the book that I don’t understand, but one thing keeps jumping out at me…it is a book about good versus evil…it is about those who keep the commands of Yahweh and the faith in Yeshua versus those that don’t. Check out these verses:

“And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”—Revelation 12:17

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”—Revelation 14:12

“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”—Revelation 22:14

Wow…and if that isn’t enough…look at Revelation 11:19, “Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.” Hmmm…what is in the ark of His covenant? …His commands…the very thing we will be judged by…

We each have a choice to make. There is no in-between. “Then Elijah approached all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If Yahweh is God, follow Him. But if Baal, follow him.”—1 Kings 18:21 We cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). Choose this day whom you will serve… (Joshua 24:15). Look at the warning to the Laodicean church in Revelation 3:14-16: “Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea: “The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Originator of God’s creation says: I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth.” We cannot be lukewarm…we must be on fire and zealous for our King…and not the way we want or the way the traditions of man tell us…it must be His way…Yahweh is holy and just…the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. He alone is worthy!

Here’s the thing…we don’t obey God to be saved, we obey Him because we are saved. Obedience to Him and His commands is the manifestation of His grace in our lives. It is the evidence of our faith. 1 John 5:2-3 says, “This is how we know that we love God’s children when we love God and obey His commands. For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden.” Yahweh wants us to keep His commands out of love for who He is and what He has done for us…because He alone is worthy!

When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is: fear God and keep His commands, because this is for all humanity.—Ecclesiastes 12:13

Complacency Comes Before Calamity

The turning away of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. (Proverbs 1:32) Have you ever realized how easily one can slip into complacency? The spirit of complacency is sneaky. One minute you are on fire and zealous for Yahveh, and the next minute BAM! there you are sitting right in the middle of complacency. I mean after all, complacency can be a nice place to be…right? Complacency is a place where we make assumptions…we assume there are no consequences for sin, we assume that we don’t have to live zealously for Yahveh, we assume that we have all the time in the world to make the changes that Yahveh is calling us to make today. And…we all have excuses…busy schedules, jobs, school, and the list goes on.

Yahveh is calling us all to wake up from our slumber and live zealously for Him. Revelation 3:15-16 says, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Zephaniah 1:12 says, “And it shall come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency, who say in their heart, ‘the Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.'” It is time to stop wasting our days and hours living a complacent life. It is time to stop living and accepting the culture of mediocrity that is so prevalent today. It is time to wake up and live our lives with purpose, completely souled out for Yahveh. We need to live Romans 12: 9-13. “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.”
